AWS Managed Operations (MO) is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to join their team focused on reducing operational load and toil through long-term engineering projects. As part of AWS Utility Computing organization, you'll work on foundational services like S3 and EC2, supporting the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, Platform, and Productivity Apps services.
The role splits time equally between operating production systems and making long-term improvements to reliability, availability, and performance. You'll be diving deep into some of the largest software systems ever built, driving technical, business, and cultural change to improve reliability and efficiency.
Your typical week might include root cause analysis of deployment failures, implementing fixes, designing systematic solutions to prevent similar issues, managing and updating Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and developing infrastructure as code to optimize hardware utilization and reduce carbon emissions.
AWS values diverse experiences and backgrounds, encouraging applications from candidates with non-traditional paths. The team fosters an inclusive culture through employee-led affinity groups and ongoing learning experiences. You'll have access to extensive mentorship opportunities and career development resources.
The position offers work-life harmony and the chance to work on cutting-edge cloud technology while making a significant impact on AWS's global infrastructure. Successful candidates will join a team that's building the best-in-class engineering and operations organization responsible for AWS Regions' day-to-day operations and long-term improvement.
