Description For System Development Engineer, AWS Vetting

AWS Vetting is pioneering the development of massively scalable systems used by the world's largest cloud infrastructures. The team builds platforms and tools that ensure the health of AWS hardware by verifying and authenticating every new and rebuilt system across all AWS data centers and manufacturing sites. This role is part of AWS Vetting Foundational Services, responsible for building the next generation of platform-level software and systems that enable delivery of healthy hardware to AWS customers.

The position involves working with senior AWS leadership to plan for the future, owning systems and services deployed to AWS Data Centers and Manufacturing sites. You'll be developing, designing, and maintaining systems to ensure continued operation in data centers and manufacturing sites.

This is a deeply technical role ideal for engineers who stay close to both customer experience and systems architecture. Success requires autonomous work, deep problem-solving abilities, and the judgment to know when to make subtle changes versus disrupting the status quo.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. The team supports all AWS data centers and the equipment ensuring continuous customer access to AWS innovation. You'll join a diverse team including software, hardware, and network engineers, working on challenging problems while maintaining the highest standards for safety and security.

Responsibilities For System Development Engineer, AWS Vetting

  • Own, design, build, and deploy large scale and high-impact projects
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code software
  • Design fault tolerance and disaster recovery solutions
  • Identify and remove scaling bottlenecks in large-scale distributed systems
  • Work with other engineers to build and manage massively scaled services
  • Diagnose and resolve customer issues
  • Implement security and operational best-practices
  • Develop monitoring, alerting, and metric collection at scale
  • Lead design, architecture, process, and development discussions
  • Mentor junior engineers

  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals
