System Development Engineer II, Systems Development (Miracle Team)

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Systems Development Engineer II to join their Miracle Team. This role is crucial in helping U.S. Intelligence Community agencies implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve technical problems using the latest cloud technologies.

The position involves developing and building software and services from the ground up, automating software development pipelines, and managing workloads. The ideal candidate will possess strong Linux/Unix knowledge, including shell scripting, and proficiency in modern programming languages. They will need to think at "Amazon scale" to solve problems in sustainable and scalable ways.

As part of the AWS team, you'll be responsible for designing, deploying, automating, and operating systems where software and services operate. This includes troubleshooting, regular deployment of new versions, system validation and testing, service monitoring, and establishing new services/tools. The role requires collaboration with various internal Software Development teams to improve systems within the team's scope.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work in Amazon's new headquarters in Northern Virginia, where Amazon is investing $2.5 billion and creating at least 25,000 new full-time jobs. The role requires US citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

The compensation is competitive, ranging from $116,300 to $201,200 per year depending on location, plus additional benefits including equity, sign-on payments, and comprehensive medical coverage.
