System Development Engineer-III, Amazon

The Amazon Consumer Payments team supports multiple payment products and processes millions of transactions daily across numerous countries and payment methods. Over 100 million customers and merchants send tens of billions of dollars through our systems annually. We build systems that provide various payments features and process payments at an unprecedented scale, with accuracy, speed, and mission-critical availability. We innovate to improve customer experience globally, supporting currency choice, installment payments, reward point payments, in-store payments, pay on delivery, credit and debit payments, seller disbursements, gift cards, and many new exciting ideas in development. This role offers the opportunity to learn and work on large-scale distributed systems, troubleshoot complex problems, and grow with one of the fastest-growing areas of Amazon's e-commerce platform.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent Engineering experience
• Advanced knowledge in Linux systems administration
• 5+ years proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Java, Go, TypeScript, Ruby) to build reusable tools
• Systems engineering and site reliability experience in building and operating systems at scale
• Experience leading the design, build, and deployment of complex and performant software solutions in production
• Experience writing technical documents, project plans, and progress reports for leadership and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience hiring, developing, and mentoring engineers
• Experience managing scaled cloud systems with a focus on operational excellence
• Experience working with high-availability, distributed systems and services
