Description For Systems Development Engineer, AWS Edge Connectivity

As a Systems Development Engineer in the AWS Edge Connectivity team, you'll be at the forefront of cloud innovation, working with cutting-edge technology and participating directly in the AWS technology ecosystem. This role combines software development with systems engineering, focusing on building and maintaining critical infrastructure components.

You'll work alongside technology leaders committed to customer delight, owning the architecture for next-generation security solutions. The position offers the opportunity to solve real-world problems at global scale, working with super smart, customer-obsessed developers who think big and have fun. You'll be responsible for developing automation tools, monitoring system health, and improving operational efficiency.

The role requires expertise in software development, systems architecture, and automation. You'll be working in AWS's headquarters in Arlington, Northern Virginia, as part of the Utility Computing (UC) organization, which provides foundational services like Amazon S3 and EC2, along with specialized security solutions for cloud services.

Responsibilities For Systems Development Engineer, AWS Edge Connectivity

  • Define and/or refine hardware requirements
  • Participate in the development and delivery of operability-related features
  • Develop or further existing application and system management tools
  • Adapt and improve operations management systems and processes
  • Participate in the design and execution of production acceptance tests
  • Monitor the health of the fleet
  • Automate system health, maintenance tasks, and reporting systems

Requirements For Systems Development Engineer, AWS Edge Connectivity

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Bachelor's degree, or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above
