Description For Systems Development Engineer, Managed Operations

AWS is launching its first European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), a groundbreaking initiative in utility computing. As a Systems Development Engineer in the AWS Managed Operations team, you'll be at the forefront of building and leading operations teams focused on delivering high-availability AWS services like EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock exclusively for EU customers.

Your role will be split between operating production systems (50%) and implementing long-term improvements (50%). You'll work closely with technology leaders to enhance operations, focusing on availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency. Daily activities include root cause analysis, bug fixing, executing critical production changes, participating in design discussions, and writing code.

The position is part of AWS Utility Computing (UC), which provides foundational services and continuous product innovations. You'll work with a diverse team in a hybrid environment (3 days office-based) and participate in on-call rotations for incident resolution.

AWS values diverse experiences and work-life harmony. The company offers comprehensive career development resources, including mentorship opportunities and employee-led affinity groups that foster inclusion. You'll be part of Amazon's mission to become Earth's Best Employer while working on cutting-edge cloud technology that serves EU customers.

Key responsibilities include overseeing the ESC launch, collaborating with global teams, improving service metrics, and ensuring scalable, high-availability experiences.
