Description For Systems Developement Engineer, Managed Operations

AWS is launching its first European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), a major milestone in Utility Computing. This role within the AWS Managed Operations team is crucial for building and leading operations and development teams that will deliver high-availability AWS services specifically for EU customers. The position combines hands-on technical work with strategic leadership, focusing on services like EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock.

As a Systems Development Engineer, you'll split your time equally between operating production systems and implementing long-term improvements. The role involves complex problem-solving, from investigating deployment failures to executing critical production changes. You'll collaborate with global teams, participate in design discussions, and contribute to code development.

Responsibilities For Systems Developement Engineer, Managed Operations

  • Oversee the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) in 2025
  • Work closely with global AWS teams
  • Influence the evolution of AWS services and technology
  • Operate production systems (50% of time)
  • Make long-term improvements to reliability, availability, and performance (50% of time)
  • Root cause deployment failures and fix bugs
  • Execute highly sensitive time-critical changes to production
  • Participate in design discussions
  • Write code and provide actionable feedback
  • Participate in on-call rotations

Requirements For Systems Developement Engineer, Managed Operations
