Description For Systems Development Engineer, Managed Operations

AWS is launching its first European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), a major advancement in Utility Computing. This role within the AWS Managed Operations team is crucial for building and leading operations and development teams focused on high-availability AWS services like EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock for EU customers. The position involves overseeing the ESC launch in 2025, collaborating with global AWS teams, and influencing AWS service evolution. Daily responsibilities include working with technology leaders, improving operations, and optimizing availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of the ESC. The role splits time between operating production systems (50%) and making long-term improvements (50%). AWS Utility Computing provides foundational services and continuous innovation in cloud computing, including specialized security solutions for customers. The position requires participation in on-call rotations and combines hands-on technical work with strategic planning.
