Description For Systems Development Engineer, Tooling & Automation (SETA)

Join AWS's SysDev Engineering, Tooling & Automation (SETA) team, part of the AWS Frontline Support Organization. This role focuses on building and maintaining critical tooling and automation that AWS support engineers rely on for customer issue diagnosis and resolution. The team has ambitious goals to enhance human capabilities using cutting-edge generative AI, machine learning, web frameworks, and AWS services.

As a Systems Development Engineer, you'll work on a broad spectrum of projects using various technology stacks, primarily Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React. You'll be involved in both backend and frontend development, infrastructure as code, and will participate in system design, risk assessment, and prototyping. The role offers exposure to AWS's global organization and deep insights into AWS products and services.

The position combines hands-on technical engineering with opportunities to specialize in data analysis, AI, architecture design, and team leadership. Responsibilities For Systems Development Engineer, Tooling & Automation (SETA)

  • Lead the design, build, and implementation of technical solutions to complex problems
  • Lead reviews of architecture, design, operations, process, and post-incident analysis
  • Drive automation and refactoring of existing solutions, including incorporating new generative AI and ML components
  • Ensure scalability, reliability and efficiency of automation processes
  • Report and analyze usage statistics of team-owned tools and services
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks and deficiencies
  • Define team's technical strategy and operating models
  • Hire and develop others through expertise, coaching, and mentoring

  • 3+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems experience

  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
