Amazon's Cyber Threat Intelligence (ACTI) team is seeking a Systems Security Engineer to join as a Cyber Threat Exploitation Engineer. This role combines deep technical expertise in cybersecurity with strategic impact across Amazon and AWS. The position focuses on identifying and analyzing emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and exploit patterns to protect Amazon's infrastructure and customers.
The role requires expertise in malware analysis, exploit research, and threat intelligence, with responsibilities spanning from hands-on technical work to strategic security initiatives. You'll work with cutting-edge security technologies and contribute to protecting one of the world's largest technology companies.
As a Cyber Threat Exploitation Engineer, you'll analyze emergent exploits, develop detection mechanisms, and collaborate with multiple security teams. The position offers opportunities to influence AWS service security, drive results from red/blue team engagements, and coordinate takedowns of malicious infrastructure.
The role is part of the Analytics & Research for Cyber Threat Intelligence Classification (ARCTIC) team, which combines exploratory data analysis, threat actor behavior analysis, and vulnerability research. Responsibilities For Systems Security Engineer, Amazon Cyber Threat Intelligence
- Identify, research, and analyze novel vulnerabilities in threat intelligence data, applications, devices, and networks
- Interface with ACTI reverse engineers and independently triage malware
- Analyze exploit samples and study attack techniques
- Analyze large and unstructured data sets to identify malicious activities
- Create security techniques and automation for internal use
- Provide situational awareness on current threat landscape
- Document investigations and craft threat intelligence products
- Periodic on-call responsibilities
Requirements For Systems Security Engineer, Amazon Cyber Threat Intelligence
- BS degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or 3+ years equivalent technology experience
- 3 years experience with analyzing software exploits and creating corresponding detections and/or countermeasures
- 3 years experience in system, network, and/or application security
- 2 years experience building automated tools in C, C++, Java, Python, Perl, PowerShell, or Ruby
- 2 years experience with SQL or other query languages
- Must be a US Citizen
