OpsTech IT Wireless Engineering at Amazon is responsible for delivering software-defined, automated, and scalable Wireless network infrastructure products that enhance the reliability of wireless services across Amazon's global fulfillment centers and transportation sites. This role combines hands-on wireless networking expertise with software development to support one of the world's largest wireless networks.

As a Wireless Network Development Engineer, you'll work on critical infrastructure that supports hundreds of thousands of associates and plays a vital role in Amazon's delivery operations. You'll collaborate with Software, Operations, and Engineering teams to define, build, and automate future solutions for scalable network management globally.

The position offers unique opportunities to work on both tactical and strategic projects, spanning from small delivery stations in emerging markets to advanced automated fulfillment centers in North America, Japan, and Europe. You'll be responsible for improving network availability, developing automation solutions, and ensuring optimal wireless performance across Amazon's facilities.

Key technical aspects include working with Cisco/MIST wireless technologies, implementing automation using Python and Ansible, managing Linux/Unix environments, and handling routing protocols. The role requires both deep technical expertise and the ability to collaborate across teams to deliver solutions that impact Amazon's global operations.

Responsibilities For Wireless Network Development Engineer, OTIE Wireless Engineering

  • Identifying, developing, and delivering technical solutions that improve the availability of wireless network technologies
  • Partner with peer teams to understand customer problems and find technological solutions
  • Define and meter the availability of network solutions
  • Identify and deliver solutions that reduce operational impact
  • Support new technology introduction, lab testing, and pilot deployment
  • Automate infrastructure testing, deployment, operations, and life cycle management
  • Provide 24x7 escalation service on shift rotation basis
  • Investigate and solve wireless network failures
  • Create and update wireless network design to improve reliability
  • Participate in an on-call rotation

Requirements For Wireless Network Development Engineer, OTIE Wireless Engineering

Python
Linux
  • 1+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
  • 1+ years of working with Cisco and/or Juniper network gear
  • 1+ year experience in Cisco/MIST wireless and related technology Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC), Wireless Access Points (WAP)
  • 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Ansible experience
  • 1+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
