Description For GPU Energy Modeling and Analysis Engineer

Apple's Silicon Technologies group is seeking a GPU Energy Modeling and Analysis Engineer to help design and manufacture next-generation, high-performance, power-efficient processors and system-on-chip (SoC). This role focuses on creating elegant solutions to complex challenges in GPU power optimization and analysis.

As a GPU Energy Modeling and Analysis Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing micro-architectural level energy models for early power estimation and analysis. You'll work on analyzing power consumption throughout the GPU and identifying opportunities for energy reduction. The role involves collaboration across multiple teams, including driver, compiler, app engineers, architects, and designers to optimize power consumption in high-value workloads.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing sophisticated energy models for power estimation and analysis
  • Conducting performance-per-watt tradeoff analysis
  • Creating tools for measurement and visualization of GPU energy consumption
  • Prototyping solutions for next-generation GPU architectures
  • Working with cross-functional teams to implement power reduction techniques

Required skills include strong computer architecture knowledge, experience with energy reduction across HW/SW stack, data mining expertise, and proficiency in Python programming. Knowledge of low power ASIC design is essential.

Responsibilities For GPU Energy Modeling and Analysis Engineer

Requirements For GPU Energy Modeling and Analysis Engineer

Python
  • Computer architecture knowledge
  • Experience in investigating energy reduction ideas across HW/SW stack
  • Experience in data mining and analyzing energy consumption
  • Knowledge of low power ASIC design
  • Proficient Python programmer or similar scripting languages
  • Experience with Tableau and/or Splunk is a plus
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Self-motivated and well organized
