Description For Modem Design Engineer

Apple is seeking an experienced Modem Design Engineer to join our Hardware team in San Diego. This role combines advanced technical expertise with collaborative teamwork to deliver best-in-class cellular modems for Apple products.

You will work closely with architecture, design, implementation, power, and physical design teams to drive synthesis, power analysis, and optimization of delivered IP. Your responsibilities include developing advanced techniques to meet challenging timing, power, and area targets while collaborating with process technology, custom memory, STA, and DFT teams to achieve successful first silicon.

The ideal candidate brings 20+ years of relevant industry experience and deep expertise in RTL design principles and physical design implementation. You'll be responsible for partition-level implementation, driving analysis and optimizations using advanced synthesis techniques, and improving RTL design for optimal area, timing, and power.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Collaborating with Physical Design and Timing Analysis teams on floor-planning, structured placement, congestion, and timing constraints
  • Analyzing architectural critical paths and driving multi-block closure
  • Debugging complex logic equivalence issues and validating netlist quality
  • Developing innovative methodologies and implementing ECOs for functionality and timing
  • Working with multi-clock domains, multi-power domains, and various design tools

The compensation package includes a base pay range of $208,300 to $360,200, plus opportunities for equity through stock programs, comprehensive benefits including medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, and education reimbursement.

Join Apple's innovative hardware team and help shape the future of cellular technology in consumer devices. Your expertise will directly impact the development of next-generation cellular modems that power Apple's groundbreaking products.
