Description For OS Performance Engineer – CoreOS Kernel Engineering

The CoreDarwin team within Apple's CoreOS organization is seeking an exceptional OS performance engineer to advance performance optimization on Apple Silicon platforms across iOS, macOS, visionOS and beyond. This role offers an opportunity to make significant impact on end-user experience across Apple's products through low-level programming and performance optimization.

As a member of the Kernel Engineering team, you'll work at the core of Apple's operating systems, focusing on analyzing and enhancing OS performance for upcoming platforms. Your responsibilities will include driving innovative kernel design improvements for better scheduling, memory, and power efficiency. You'll collaborate closely with hardware architects and chip design teams to optimize for Apple Silicon and influence future CPU, GPU and memory subsystems.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in kernel development with strong collaborative abilities. You'll work across multiple teams - from hardware engineering to compiler, application and frameworks teams - to achieve world-class system performance. This position requires both technical depth in low-level system optimization and the ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries.

The role offers competitive compensation including base pay between $121,900 and $214,500, plus opportunities for equity through stock programs and additional benefits.
