Apple is seeking an expert broadcast systems engineer to join their team and play a critical role in engineering projects and supporting live broadcast events. As a Subject Matter Expert or lead in broadcasting and streaming technologies, you'll work on various aspects of their broadcasting and live streaming platform, including production, encoding, transcoding, packing, delivery, playback, and analytics.
The IS&T Broadcast Services team needs an expert in broadcasting and live streaming solutions to contribute to their next-generation platform. This role involves designing, developing, testing, and supporting scalable broadcasting solutions while working with multiple internal teams. You'll be responsible for Production and Post-Production support, automation of complex workflows, and maintaining documentation.
Key responsibilities include resolving technical issues, providing setup assistance for broadcast control room equipment, and staying current with industry trends. The role requires flexibility for 24x7 emergency response and may involve limited travel. You'll be working with various technologies including AWS media services, video/audio codecs, streaming protocols, and security implementations.
The ideal candidate brings 4+ years of broadcast engineering experience, strong technical knowledge of streaming protocols and media technologies, and excellent communication skills. Experience with AWS, programming languages like Python and JavaScript, and understanding of complex broadcasting workflows involving multi-vendor technologies is highly valued.
