Description For Wireless Systems Application Engineer

In this technical role, you will be at the center of a silicon design group, responsible for wireless system design for pioneering wireless SoC products. You will focus on leading developments and collaborate closely with different teams to come up with specifications and design details, implementation, conduct pre-silicon validations, post-silicon bring-up, performance and reliability analysis and optimizations, to ensure the solutions achieve the requirements and produce satisfying user-level experiences.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Design and simulate state-of-the-art wireless communication systems for next generations of applications
  • Implement system models and investigate innovative architecture, protocols, and algorithms in PHY/MAC cross-layer to mitigate the impact of congested radio environments and achieve robust performance
  • Collaborate with product teams to develop novel architecture, protocols, integrated systems, and algorithms
  • Perform simulations to prove the efficiency of crafted architecture, protocols, and algorithms
  • Work with firmware and digital designers to realize software and hardware implementations
  • Bring up, test, and characterize the crafted algorithms, optimize performance to achieve targeted production qualities on real silicon in lab

Required Qualifications:

  • BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
  • Extensive experience in developing wireless communications systems
  • In-depth knowledge of wireless communication systems (OFDM/MIMO, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of communication theory and signal processing related algorithms
  • Experience with multi-radio coexistence management
  • Experience with system optimization in congested radio environments
  • Experience with Matlab or Python and/or C/C++ for algorithm development
  • Knowledge of existing protocols: 5G/LTE/WCDMA/GSM, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be, 802.11ad/ay or Bluetooth/BLE

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in modem architecture, microprocessor architecture, and hardware
  • Prior experience in low-power algorithm design
  • Knowledge of High-Level Synthesis (HLS), silicon prototyping, and emulation systems
  • Experience in bringing up real silicon in lab and efficiently using lab equipment
