Description For Software Engineer, Full Stack, Developer Productivity

Benchling is revolutionizing the biotechnology industry through their R&D Cloud platform, which helps innovative biotech companies accelerate their research and development processes. As a Full Stack Software Engineer in the Developer Productivity team, you'll play a crucial role in enhancing the developer experience, particularly in frontend development. The position involves creating and extending tools and frameworks that enable engineering teams to deliver high-quality products efficiently.

The role combines technical expertise in frontend development, particularly with React, with a focus on building developer tools and improving workflows. You'll be working on one of the largest React applications, handling complex scientific analyses while ensuring the platform remains scalable and maintainable. The position requires both technical proficiency and an understanding of developer needs to create solutions that streamline development processes.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about developer tooling and frontend architecture who wants to make a meaningful impact in the biotechnology sector. You'll be working in a hybrid environment (3 days in office) in Boston, with competitive compensation ($141,000 - $190,000) and comprehensive benefits. The role offers significant ownership and the chance to influence how Benchling scales its engineering practices and processes.

The ideal candidate will bring 3+ years of software engineering experience, strong expertise in web frameworks (particularly Node.js or Python), and a product-minded approach to building tools. While prior life science knowledge isn't required, an interest in learning about the field is essential. You'll be part of a team that's helping to accelerate scientific research and development, ultimately contributing to breakthrough products in biotechnology.
