Description For FBAR R&D Engineer

Broadcom, a global leader in semiconductor and infrastructure software solutions, is seeking a Senior FBAR R&D Engineer to join their team in San Jose, California. This role offers a competitive salary range of $141,000 to $225,000 along with comprehensive benefits.

The position focuses on developing and maintaining high-accuracy FBAR/BAW device and module models for RF applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building scalable modeling libraries, performing acoustic and electrical simulations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure model fidelity. This role requires a deep understanding of device physics and acoustic wave modeling, combined with strong problem-solving skills and a data-driven approach.

The successful candidate will have either a PhD with 7+ years of industrial experience or a Master's degree with 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or physics. They should be familiar with simulation tools like ADS, COMSOL, HFSS, and Cadence, and have experience with MEMS fabrication processes.

Responsibilities For FBAR R&D Engineer

  • Develop and maintain high-accuracy FBAR/BAW device and module models for RF applications
  • Build scalable and reusable modeling libraries for different product platforms
  • Extract model parameters from measurement data and validate against empirical results
  • Automate modeling workflows to improve simulation efficiency and consistency
  • Perform acoustic and electrical simulations to predict device performance
  • Collaborate with design, process, and characterization teams to ensure model fidelity
  • Support design teams with model integration and tuning during new product development
  • Analyze performance deviations and provide feedback for design or process optimization
  • Document modeling methodologies, assumptions, and validation procedures
  • Stay current on modeling techniques and contribute to internal knowledge sharing

Requirements For FBAR R&D Engineer

  • Strong understanding of FBAR/BAW device physics and acoustic wave modeling
  • Experience with model parameter extraction from linear/nonlinear/high power data
  • Solid background in RF systems, filter design, and impedance matching
  • Ability to develop scalable and reusable modeling frameworks
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach
  • Independent, self-started team player willing to thrive under dynamic working environments
  • Experience working with cross-functional engineering teams
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities
  • Familiar with acoustic filter/MEMS fabrication processes and material properties
  • Familiar with simulation tools such as ADS, COMSOL, HFSS, Cadence, or equivalent
  • PhD degree in electrical engineering/mechanical engineering/physics with 7+ years of direct industrial experience or Master's degree with 10+ years of experience
