Distinguished Data Engineer - Card Technology

Capital One is seeking a Distinguished Data Engineer to join their Card Technology team, where you'll be at the forefront of shaping the future of banking in the cloud. As a Distinguished Engineer, you'll be part of an elite community of technical experts working alongside developers, machine learning experts, and product managers. The role focuses on building and shaping data infrastructure using next-generation technologies like Generative AI and Machine Learning to solve complex financial sector challenges at scale.

You'll work specifically with the Card Data Architecture team, providing world-class data experiences while maintaining strong governance practices and ensuring data observability. The position requires deep expertise in handling large data pipelines, real-time and batch processing, and building highly resilient platforms that can scale to 50k+ TPS with 4 9's availability.

The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $239,900 to $328,500 depending on location, plus performance-based incentives and comprehensive benefits. Key responsibilities include articulating technical vision, decomposing complex problems, ensuring implementation quality, and serving as an authoritative expert on system characteristics.
