Cisco's Common Hardware Group (CHG) is seeking a Thermal Engineer to join their team in San Jose, CA. This role involves working on current and next-generation mechanical designs of telecom systems within the Computing Systems Products Group.
As a Thermal Engineer, you will:
- Work on platform engineering mechanical team
- Design and innovate hardware products, services, and solutions
- Perform thermal management and testing
- Use thermal simulation tools (Flotherms, Icepack, Celsius EC)
- Conduct automated testing and scripting for data retrieval
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Hardware Engineering, Product Management/Marketing, and Manufacturing Operations
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with 5 years of work experience or Master's degree with 3 years of experience in thermal management and testing
- Experience in thermal/mechanical design of computer/networking equipment
- Knowledge of manufacturing tooling for sheet metal, plastic, and die-casting
- Proficiency in thermal testing for computer networking equipment
- Experience with Python, Perl, or SQL Scripting
Preferred skills:
- Airflow Windtunnel testing
- MCAD software experience (Solidworks, NX, or Creo)
