Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Consumer - Growth)

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their Growth organization, which drives Coinbase's mission of bringing the world onchain. This role focuses on building the next generation of crypto-forward products and features, solving unique, large-scale technical problems that bridge web-scale applications and blockchain technology.

The Growth team is responsible for multiple critical areas including referral and incentives programs, notifications systems, logged-out web experience, and new user onboarding optimization. Their goal is to make Coinbase the easiest, safest, and fastest platform for crypto assets.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll:

• Design and build scalable systems using modern cloud technology
• Run experiments to power retail product growth
• Create long-term visions for backend system scaling
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on product roadmaps
• Write high-quality, well-tested code

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of software engineering experience, with expertise in building and scaling production services. They should be passionate about creating an open financial system and have experience with service-oriented architecture.

Additional valuable experience includes:

• Product launches from scratch
• Growth experiments and A/B testing
• Blockchain technology knowledge
• Experience with technologies like Golang, Ruby, Docker, Rails
• Building fintech or highly reliable systems
