Software Engineer III, Payments

As a Backend Engineer on the Payments Team at Crunchyroll, you will help shape the future of our Service Monetization Platform. You'll build the payments platform that powers revenue collection for Crunchyroll, working with design, product, quality, and data teams to solve complex challenges, optimize performance, and enhance user experience. This role directly contributes to the growth of the Crunchyroll fanbase.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build robust and reliable backend services
• Work with cloud technologies like API Gateway, Lambda, EC2, RDS, ECS
• Handle databases including PostgresDB/MariaDB, DynamoDB/MongoDB
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident management
• Integrate with payment providers
• Implement payments fraud detection and prevention
• Optimize to reduce passive churn while maintaining PCI compliance
• Process millions of payments in a secure, distributed, and scalable environment

The ideal candidate will have:

• 5+ years of experience building robust and reliable backend services
• Strong experience with Node.js
• Familiarity with cloud technologies and databases
• Experience in an environment with on-call rotations and incident management
