Job Description

Disney Live Entertainment is seeking an Area Manager-Costume Production to lead salaried, hourly union, and hourly non-union cast with specialized skills in technical design and pre-production of garment manufacturing. This role will be instrumental in providing guidance and feedback that promotes development and inclusion. The Area Manager-Costume Production will be responsible for garment estimation, resource planning, and workflow for multiple teams to achieve on-time and on-budget product delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily leadership, coaching, and mentoring to a team of direct reports
  • Lead Costume Teams to meet or exceed expectations of Partners/Guests
  • Monitor, analyze, and take action on costume inventory, quality, labor, and expenses
  • Continually seek innovative ways of doing business
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with partners
  • Oversee and establish processes and Operating Guides
  • Participate in annual budget planning
  • Lead replenishment planning sessions and prepare cost estimates
  • Partner with Operational Costuming areas for procurement and disposition of Entertainment Costumes

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in a leadership role with direct and indirect reports
  • 3+ years experience in Costuming, Theater, Garment Manufacturing, Fashion, or related field
  • Experience delivering feedback, mentoring, and providing re-direction
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work around all types of fabrics, fibers, and synthetic furs
  • Flexible work schedule, including extended hours, holidays, and weekends
  • Able to travel domestically and/or internationally up to 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with electronic work order and planning software (e.g., Maximo, Yunique PLM)
  • Experience working with collective bargaining agreements and unionized Cast
  • Knowledge of international shipping processes and global sourcing
  • Experience with garment specification or technical specification writing

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Advanced degree in Fashion, Apparel, Theatre, Merchandising, Costuming, or related fields (preferred)
