Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology (DEE) is seeking a Lead Media Systems Engineer to join their innovative team focused on transforming how Disney acquires, produces, and distributes content worldwide. This role sits at the intersection of hardware and software technology, requiring deep expertise in media systems engineering.

As a Lead Media Systems Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring the highest levels of quality, efficiency, and resiliency in Disney's media infrastructure. You'll work with various systems including Playout Technology, Studios, Production Control Rooms, Remote Production, Post-Production, Contribution/Distribution Systems, Networking, Cloud Computing, and Production Software.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $126,400 to $169,500 per year in Los Angeles, with additional benefits including bonus potential and long-term incentive units. You'll be part of Disney's mission to delight consumers worldwide with news, entertainment, and sports content, working within the DEE Engineering Services segment.

Responsibilities For Lead Media Systems Engineer

  • Respond to and resolve issues affecting acquisition, production, and content distribution
  • Troubleshoot streaming audio/video signals in traditional SDI and IP environments
  • Support third-party service providers
  • Lead operational support of audio and video production/distribution systems
  • Lead engineering projects while collaborating with more experienced engineers
  • Review and contribute to system/workflow documentation
  • Select, train, motivate and evaluate technical staff
  • Support procurement of equipment within budget guidelines
  • Lead long range planning for future media technology needs

Requirements For Lead Media Systems Engineer

  • 7+ years of previous and relevant experience in leading others
  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, computer science or equivalent
  • Expert level knowledge of broadcast control room equipment
  • Scripting ability (Python, NodeJS, Bash, PowerShell)
  • Proficient in SMPTE standards
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud infrastructure platforms
  • Expert knowledge of Evertz software control systems
  • Advanced knowledge of compression techniques
  • Ability to create and interpret AutoCAD
  • Physical requirements including ability to climb ladders and valid driver's license
