Disney Entertainment & ESPN Product & Technology (DEEPT) is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join their Privacy Services team within the Commerce, Data, and Identity organization. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative data privacy solutions at scale.
The Privacy Services team is responsible for creating self-serve modularized tooling that enables the entire organization to utilize data effectively and responsibly. You'll be working on the "Foundational" medallion software, which serves as the epicenter of all data across the organization, while collaborating closely with Analytics, Data Science, Data Verticals, and Service Engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the architecture and implementation of self-serve modularized software frameworks using Scala, Python, and Spark
- Build robust observability, alerting, and logging systems for data pipelines
- Maintain and expand existing Privacy Services software deployments
- Develop tooling to simplify dataset migrations and complex environments
- Create shared libraries that abstract complex business logic
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other engineers
The tech stack includes:
- Airflow for workflow orchestration
- Apache Spark for distributed processing
- Databricks and Delta Lake for data processing
- Snowflake for data warehousing
- Scala and Python as primary programming languages

The ideal candidate will have:
- 7+ years of software engineering experience in the data space
- Strong algorithmic problem-solving skills
- Expertise in Scala and Python programming
- Experience with AWS or cloud providers
- Production experience with distributed systems and workflow orchestration
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
