Description For Lead Software Engineer, Android

Technology is at the heart of Disney's past, present, and future. Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is a global organization of engineers, product developers, designers, technologists, data scientists, and more – all working to build and advance the technological backbone for Disney's media business globally.

This is a hands-on engineering position developing mobile applications for ESPN inside the Android Ecosystem in Java/Kotlin. You will work with a cross-functional team of Product Managers, Designers, Mobile/Web/Backend Engineers, and Content Creators to conceptualize and develop world-class Disney apps. Based on your experience, you will apply technical expertise to manage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables and will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Technical Expertise: Utilize your technical skills to manage project priorities and engage in the full software development lifecycle
  • Collaborative Development: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Lead and mentor other engineers, providing guidance and oversight

The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $152,200 to $213,900 depending on location, plus comprehensive benefits including medical coverage, bonus opportunities, and long-term incentives. The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of Android development experience, strong expertise in object-oriented and functional programming, and a track record of shipping consumer apps.
