Description For Lead Software Engineer - Front End

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is at the forefront of reimagining magical viewing experiences for the world's most beloved stories while transforming Disney's media business for the future. As part of the Living Room Devices, Browser Based Device, Client Application Engineering Team, you'll be working on pushing the boundaries of what's possible on 10-foot devices and TVs in the marketplace.

The role involves building Direct-to-Consumer client apps like Disney+, Star+, ESPN and Hulu on various devices using browser and JavaScript technologies. You'll be working with a team that directly impacts millions of global consumers and their streaming experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Rapidly prototype and implement scalable media applications using TypeScript and JavaScript
  • Collaborate with UX designers and product managers to create best-in-class streaming experiences
  • Work with other developers to build applications for Samsung, LG, and other streaming devices
  • Use data and experimentation to improve viewer experience
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers

Required Skills:

  • 7+ years of front-end application development experience
  • Strong leadership abilities and problem-solving skills
  • Expertise in TypeScript, JavaScript, Preact/React and Redux
  • Deep understanding of computer science fundamentals
  • Experience with sophisticated UI development
  • BS in Computer Science or related field

The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $149,300 to $219,200 depending on location, plus comprehensive benefits including medical coverage and 401k.
