As a Lead Software Engineer in the Consumer Software Engineering team at Disney Entertainment & ESPN Product & Technology, you'll be at the forefront of building exciting experiences for our core streaming products like Disney+. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on development, where you'll architect and build sophisticated features using modern technologies like React, TypeScript, and AWS. You'll work closely with Product and Senior Leadership to ideate on new features while ensuring high performance and scalability of our streaming platforms that serve a global audience.

As a technical leader, you'll set engineering standards, mentor senior developers, and drive technical excellence across teams. You'll solve complex challenges in video streaming, large-scale web applications, and user experience optimization. The position offers the chance to work on products that reach millions of users worldwide while collaborating with talented engineers who are passionate about creating exceptional streaming experiences.

Disney offers a competitive compensation package including salary ranges of $152,200 to $223,600 (varying by location), along with bonus potential, equity opportunities, and comprehensive benefits. Responsibilities For Lead Software Engineer - Frontend

  • Lead large initiatives and help architect and develop core site functionality using JavaScript (ES6+) HTML and CSS
  • Work on a modern stack including React, TypeScript, NodeJS, and Amazon Web Services
  • Ideate with Product and Senior Leadership on potential new features
  • Use industry standard methodologies to increase performance and scalability
  • Set up golden standards for code quality and review pull requests
  • Mentor and facilitate growth of senior engineers
  • Maintain and support production streaming applications at global scale
