Description For Principal iOS Engineer

Embrace is seeking a Principal iOS Engineer to lead and innovate their mobile observability platform. As the only user-focused, mobile-first observability solution built on OpenTelemetry, Embrace helps companies deliver the best app experiences by providing crucial insights across DevOps and mobile teams.

In this role, you'll own the architecture and performance of Embrace's iOS SDK, working with cutting-edge technology that processes billions of data points daily from over 100M devices. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing features that improve developer experiences, while staying current with Apple's latest technologies and best practices.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the architecture and performance of iOS app and watch integrations
  • Researching and implementing developer-focused features
  • Adopting latest iOS APIs and technologies
  • Collaborating with customers and cross-functional teams
  • Implementing engineering best practices for enterprise-scale mobile applications

The ideal candidate brings:

  • 8+ years of iOS development experience with Swift and Objective-C
  • Expertise in unit testing and performance optimization
  • Experience building mobile SDKs
  • Strong communication skills
  • Understanding of Objective-C runtime
  • Experience with observability frameworks and OpenTelemetry

Responsibilities For Principal iOS Engineer

  • Own the overall architecture and performance of iOS app and watch integrations
  • Push the envelope by researching and implementing features that help fellow developers
  • Adopt the latest iOS APIs, languages, and features
  • Coach and collaborate directly with customers
  • Work with product, Customer Success, and sales to share technology and product decisions
  • Implement and improve engineering best practices for a rapidly growing code base

Requirements For Principal iOS Engineer

  • 8+ years of experience of iOS development using Swift and Objective-C
  • Experience with unit testing and performance optimization methodologies
  • Experience building SDKs for mobile
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
  • Understanding of the Objective-C run-time
  • Experience with instrumenting mobile code to report performance metrics in production
