Description For Media Systems Engineer

Epic Games is seeking a Media Systems Engineer to join their Media and Projects Engineering (MPE) group. This role is responsible for the design, integration, and maintenance of media & AV system infrastructure across Epic Games globally. The primary focus is on service and support of content review rooms, recording studios, editorial suites, conferencing systems, broadcast streams, virtual production, and capture systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining integrated A/V systems including hardware, soft codecs, and control systems
  • Providing maintenance and support for conference and content review rooms
  • Day-to-day site support and engineering support for MSE in the greater region
  • Troubleshooting system failures and providing break/fix support
  • Front-line response for emergency requests for professional and consumer A/V systems
  • Event support including live sound reinforcement, videoconferencing, and streaming content
  • Maintaining and organizing engineering labs and storage
  • Asset management, data entry, and documentation updates
  • Integration of new systems ensuring enterprise-wide standards are met

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 5 years working on a tech team, with a heavy concentration on A/V support and integration
  • Experience with A/V systems such as Zoom, Dante, and Q-Sys
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and customer service abilities
  • Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and work independently
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment (50+ lbs)

Responsibilities For Media Systems Engineer

  • Maintain integrated A/V systems including hardware, soft codecs, and control systems
  • Provide maintenance and support for conference and content review rooms
  • Day-to-day site support in local Epic Games facility and engineering support for MSE in the greater region
  • Troubleshoot system failures and provide break/fix support
  • Provide front-line response for emergency requests for professional, consumer A/V systems, and in-house developed technologies
  • Event support including live sound reinforcement, videoconferencing, and streaming content
  • Maintain and organize engineering labs and storage
  • Provide general administrative support, asset management, data entry, and documentation updates
  • Ship and receive A/V hardware for inventory and repair
  • Assist with the day-to-day support of the MPE team, including special projects and Event-Tech
  • Integration of new systems ensuring enterprise-wide standards are met and maintained across Epic locations
  • Some travel is required as needed and could be for extended periods of 1-2 weeks at a time

Requirements For Media Systems Engineer

Linux
  • Minimum of 5 years working on a tech team, with a heavy concentration on A/V support and integration
  • Experience reading and creating signal flow diagrams, cable termination types, and compatible signal conversions in video and audio
  • Working knowledge of video and audio signals, with a clear understanding of sampling rate, frame rate, frame resolution, etc.
  • Experience with A/V systems such as Zoom, Dante, and Q-Sys
  • Strong on-the-spot troubleshooting skills
  • Friendly and patient customer service skills
  • Flexible nature with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks & activities simultaneously
  • Strong administrative and communication skills, attention to detail, and follow-through
  • Strong self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment (50+ lbs)
