Description For VP Architecture

Fidelity's Charitable Technology team is seeking a skilled and highly motivated VP of Architecture to drive platform innovation and enable the organization to stay on the cutting edge of digital philanthropy. This role combines leadership and technical expertise, working across all Fidelity Charitable products/programs as a trusted advisor.

The position involves providing direction and guidance on all aspects of technology delivery, working closely with business stakeholders, executive leadership, and agile development teams. You'll be responsible for developing architectural blueprints, technical proof of concepts, and solution designs while mentoring team members and maintaining hands-on involvement in implementation.

The Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund is the largest national donor-advised fund program, helping thousands of donors maximize their charitable impact since 1991. As VP Architecture, you'll play a crucial role in modernizing legacy systems and driving digital transformation to support the organization's charitable mission.

The role requires deep technical expertise in software architecture, contemporary web patterns, enterprise integration, and cloud infrastructure. You'll need strong leadership skills to mentor team members and guide the architecture practice while maintaining hands-on involvement in technical implementation. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of IT experience, strong full-stack development background, and proven success in delivering complex software systems.

Working in a hybrid model, you'll collaborate with teams across multiple locations including Merrimack, NH, Durham, NC, and Westlake, TX.   • Defining technology vision, strategy and solutions to align with business priorities
  • Working with business and technology stakeholders to guide and oversee architecture definition
  • Mentoring and growing architecture team members
  • Directly supporting agile development teams in developing solutions
  • Working to continuously improve technology craft – patterns, practices, tools and methods
  • Continuing to sharpen the blade of technology patterns and techniques

Requirements For VP Architecture

Java
TypeScript

  • Bachelors or master's degree in a technology-related field
  • 10+ years of experience in multiple IT areas
  • 4+ years experience in a senior solution architecture position
  • Strong full-stack experience in application development (Java/Spring, Angular)
  • Systems integration pattern knowledge and REST API design expertise
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and security protocols
  • Experience with Cloud-based architecture patterns
  • Understanding of emerging technology trends
  • Knowledge of data modeling and database systems
  • Experience in SDLC and agile methodologies
