Google Cloud is seeking a Customer Engineer specializing in Infrastructure Modernization to join their team. This role sits at the intersection of technical expertise and customer success, working directly with clients to leverage Google Cloud's powerful capabilities. The position requires a strong technical background with 6 years of experience in cloud native architecture and customer-facing roles.

As a Customer Engineer, you'll partner with technical Sales teams to showcase Google Cloud's distinctive advantages to customers. Your responsibilities will include developing creative cloud solutions, conducting proofs of concept, and resolving technical challenges. You'll work closely with customers to understand their business needs and technical requirements, presenting tailored solutions that drive their digital transformation journey.

The role offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $125,000 to $183,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Based in either Sunnyvale or San Francisco, CA, you'll be part of Google Cloud's mission to accelerate organizations' ability to digitally transform their businesses across more than 200 countries.

Key responsibilities include sharing enterprise infrastructure modernization knowledge, guiding customers through legacy environment assessments, and recommending integration strategies. You'll need expertise in cloud infrastructure, security concepts, and networking, along with strong presentation skills for engaging with technical stakeholders and executive leaders.

  • Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand key customer technical objections, and develop the strategy to resolve technical blockers
  • Share enterprise infrastructure modernization knowledge to support the technical relationship with customers
  • Work with Google Cloud products to demonstrate and prototype integrations in customer and partner environments
  • Guide customers through assessments of existing legacy application environments
  • Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure needed to implement a complete solution on Google Cloud

Requirements For Customer Engineer, Infrastructure Modernization, Google Cloud

Kubernetes
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 6 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure engineering, on-premise infrastructure engineering, virtualization, or containerization platforms
  • Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders
  • Experience in migrating applications and services to cloud platforms
  • Experience with security concepts such as encryption, identity management, access control, attack vectors, and penetration testing
  • Experience with networking concepts such as software-defined networking, routing, virtual private networks, load balancers and firewalls
