Description For Data Center Facilities Manager

Google's Data Center Facilities Manager position offers an exciting opportunity to lead critical infrastructure operations at one of the world's most innovative technology companies. As a key leader responsible for 24/7 data center campus operations, you'll manage a high-performing team while ensuring strict adherence to SLAs for uptime, efficiency, and cost management.

The role combines technical expertise with leadership, requiring you to oversee sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and HVAC systems. You'll be responsible for planning and executing operational budgets, driving cost-effective operations, and integrating Google-wide strategies with various partners. The position offers the chance to grow and develop campus teams while working with cutting-edge technology.

As part of Google's Technical Infrastructure team, you'll be at the forefront of maintaining and developing the architecture that powers Google's vast product portfolio. The team takes pride in being "engineers' engineers," focusing on keeping networks running optimally and ensuring the best possible user experience.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background with at least 7 years of experience in electrical, mechanical/HVAC, or controls/automation in an industrial environment. Responsibilities For Data Center Facilities Manager

  • Plan and execute campus operational budgets, conduct expense forecasting, and manage established budgets
  • Set strategy and plan deployments across multiple sites
  • Grow the campus team to meet business needs and identify key hiring needs
  • Ensure 24/7 data center operations meet SLAs for uptime and efficiency
  • Manage data center performance issues and outages to minimize recovery time
  • Maintain environmental and safety standards

Requirements For Data Center Facilities Manager

Linux
Kubernetes
  • Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 7 years of experience in Electrical, Mechanical/HVAC, or Controls/Automation experience in an industrial/commercial environment
  • 6 years of experience in maintenance and monitoring of server systems (preferred)
  • Experience working within a data center or network operation center environment (preferred)
  • Experience collaborating and partnering with teams (preferred)
  • Experience in team and project management and leadership (preferred)
