Google is seeking a Data Center Technician II to join their Hardware Operations team in Kansas City. This role is crucial in maintaining Google's state-of-the-art physical infrastructure that powers their search technology and various services. The position involves hands-on work with server hardware, including installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of both hardware components and server software, particularly Google's Linux cluster. You'll also work with complex networking components such as routers, hubs, bridges, and switches. You'll need to be comfortable with non-standard hours and physical demands of the job.

Responsibilities For Data Center Technician II, Technical Operations
- Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across projects or functions
- Report issues and follow data center procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues
- Maintain the security and integrity of data
- Disassemble specific equipment that has reached its end-of-life
- Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure
Requirements For Data Center Technician II, Technical Operations
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems and computer/server hardware or networking protocols
- Experience with performing component-level repairs on IT equipment
- Ability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) of equipment
- Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, holidays and shifts
- 2 years of experience preferred in diagnostics and troubleshooting
- Experience working within a data center or network operation center environment
