Description For EDA/CAD Custom Tool Development Engineer, Google Cloud

Join Google Cloud as an EDA/CAD Custom Tool Development Engineer and shape the future of AI/ML hardware acceleration. This role focuses on developing cutting-edge TPU (Tensor Processing Unit) technology that powers Google's most demanding AI/ML applications. You'll be part of an innovative team developing custom silicon solutions for Google's TPU infrastructure.

The position combines hardware design expertise with software development, requiring strong programming skills in Python and C++. You'll work closely with the Google Deepmind team to incorporate AI/ML techniques into chip design methodology and collaborate with Chip Project teams to standardize methodologies across different functional areas.

As part of the ML, Systems & Cloud AI (MSCA) organization, you'll contribute to the infrastructure that powers all Google services and Google Cloud. The role involves leading complex technical projects from conception to completion, developing tools that rely on AI/ML techniques, and driving end-to-end chip design process improvements.

The impact of this role extends to Google's global infrastructure, including the development of TPUs and running a global network. You'll be at the forefront of hyperscale computing, contributing to products like Google Cloud's Vertex AI platform and working with Gemini models for enterprise customers.

Responsibilities For EDA/CAD Custom Tool Development Engineer, Google Cloud

  • Partner with the Google Deepmind team to incorporate AI/ML techniques in chip design methodology
  • Partner with Chip Project teams to influence and standardize methodology across projects
  • Propose, design, and implement software automation addressing bottlenecks in ASIC and SoC EDA flow
  • Lead the development of internal software tools and automation efforts
  • Work directly with hardware team on projects-prototype and deploy tools

Requirements For EDA/CAD Custom Tool Development Engineer, Google Cloud

Python
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in ASIC Chip Design
  • 5 years of experience with hardware electronic design automation tools
  • Experience in Python/C++ programming
  • Experience in writing code and design practices
