Description For Engineering Analyst, Messages Spam and Abuse

Google is seeking an Engineering Analyst to join their Trust & Safety team, focusing on Messages Spam and Abuse. This role combines technical expertise in data analysis with security and anti-abuse efforts to protect Google's users globally. The position requires strong analytical skills, programming knowledge in SQL and Python, and experience with fraud/abuse investigations.

The role involves working with Google Engineers and Product Managers to combat online safety challenges, specifically in the areas of messaging abuse and fraud. As part of Google's Trust & Safety team, you'll collaborate with a diverse group of experts including Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers to reduce risk and fight abuse across all Google products.

The ideal candidate will have experience in data analysis, project management, and security/anti-abuse work. Key responsibilities include analyzing trends, developing anti-abuse protections, building monitoring systems, and leading cross-functional projects. Responsibilities For Engineering Analyst, Messages Spam and Abuse

  • Analyze emerging trends, conduct data analysis, and identify new signals to develop solutions for scaled enforcement
  • Develop an understanding of abuse in messaging, current cross-product workflows, and available intelligence
  • Work with cross-functional teams to design and build anti-abuse protections
  • Build monitoring and alerting dashboards to track abuse levels
  • Lead projects to prevent Google's infrastructure from being abuse, harm, or fraud

Requirements For Engineering Analyst, Messages Spam and Abuse

Python
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data
  • 2 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables
  • Experience with data analysis and database management (e.g., SQL, Python, etc.)
