Security Engineer, Detection

Google is seeking a Security Engineer to join their Detection Team, focusing on creating and maintaining the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. This role is part of Google's critical security infrastructure, where you'll be responsible for developing and maintaining signals, tools, and infrastructure to protect against sophisticated attackers.

The position involves building advanced detection mechanisms for attacker techniques, developing automation systems for remediation, conducting threat hunting, and performing network and systems forensics. You'll be at the forefront of handling malicious activity on Google's networks, performing deep analysis of threats across corporate, production, and acquisition environments. This is a key role in the team that hunts for and responds to advanced persistent threats (APT) and insider threats.

As a Security Engineer, you'll be part of a 24/7 global operation, participating in large-scale security incidents and conducting investigations to determine potential threats to Google. The role requires strong programming skills in languages like Python, Go, C/C++, or Java, combined with experience in data analysis and intrusion detection systems.

The position offers competitive compensation with a base salary range of $118,000-$170,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
