Description For Senior Staff Data Scientist, Search Quality

Google is seeking a Senior Staff Data Scientist to join their Search Quality team, focusing on metrics, insights, data quality, and methodology for Search Quality and Search overall. This role offers a competitive base salary range of $221,000-$314,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in analytics and data science, with a Master's degree in a quantitative field or equivalent experience. The role requires expertise in Python, SQL, and statistical analysis, with a particular emphasis on the intersection of traditional data science and Large Language Models (LLMs).

As a Senior Staff Data Scientist, you'll be responsible for advancing Google's search capabilities through data-driven insights and methodologies. You'll work closely with search quality engineers and Program Managers, focusing on enhancing the user's search experience. The role involves identifying product opportunities, building robust methodologies, and implementing AI capabilities in data science workflows.

Key responsibilities include managing complex stakeholder relationships, providing technical leadership across multiple projects, and making strategic business recommendations for Search launch decisions.   • Identify opportunity for product based on a deep understanding of the search quality stack
  • Build methodology and insights that can advance our understanding of search product and increase efficiency
  • Focus on AI, introducing the most advanced capability to data science work streams
  • Make business recommendations with effective communication for Search launch and project prioritization decisions
  • Manage stakeholders in a complex space and provide technical leadership across multiple concurrent projects
  • Work with data sets and solve non-routine challenges, applying problem solving methods as required
  • Conduct analysis including data gathering and requirements specification, processing, analysis, ongoing deliverables and presentations

Requirements For Senior Staff Data Scientist, Search Quality

Python
  • Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 10 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis, or 8 years of work experience with a PhD degree
  • Experience in the conjunction of traditional data science and Large Language Model (LLM) applications
