Description For Service Engineering (English, Japanese)

Google is seeking a Service Engineering professional to join their Consumer Hardware team in Tokyo, Japan. This role combines hardware engineering expertise with service operations, focusing on New Product Introduction (NPI) and product development. The ideal candidate will have 8 years of manufacturing experience and bilingual proficiency in English and Japanese.

The position involves leading service strategies for consumer hardware products, working with cross-functional teams to enhance product repairability and serviceability. You'll be part of a diverse team developing custom silicon solutions that power Google's direct-to-consumer products, contributing to innovations that impact millions of users worldwide.

Responsibilities For Service Engineering (English, Japanese)

  • Lead the execution of service strategies related to New Product Introduction (NPI) product development of Consumer Hardware (HW) Service Operations and provide product technical support
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams in understanding customers requirements and collaborate with cross-functional teams to guide products design for repairability and serviceability
  • Identify and implement opportunities for NPI service improvement and setting product design for serviceability/ repairability goals
  • Apply Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) fundamentals and collaborate with teams to help them in understanding and applying RCCA tools and principles and analyze failure to resolve issues
  • Drive process design, optimization, and qualification activities of a manufacturing process for a component, part, or product

Requirements For Service Engineering (English, Japanese)

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience in manufacturing of consumer electrical mechanical related products
  • Ability to communicate in English and Japanese fluently to partner with local stakeholders and vendors
