Google Cloud is seeking a Software Engineer III to join their Big Data team. This role focuses on developing and enhancing big data technologies and tools that power Google Cloud's enterprise-grade solutions. As part of Google's engineering team, you'll work on critical projects involving Apache Spark, Lake House technologies, and other open-source tools to improve performance, security, and monitoring capabilities.

Responsibilities For Software Engineer III, Big Data, Google Cloud

  • Enhance Apache Spark for performance, reliability, security and monitoring
  • Enhance Lake House technologies like Iceberg, Hudi or Delta for performance, security and monitoring
  • Build the necessary dashboards for overall engineering and business monitoring
  • Extend open source technologies like Apache Spark, Ray, Hive etc. to improve their debuggability, observability and supportability
  • Design and develop tools to improve the overall troubleshooting experience not just for our customers but also for Support and Ops teams

Requirements For Software Engineer III, Big Data, Google Cloud

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms
