Description For Staff Network Engineer, Customer Services Edge

Google is seeking a Staff Network Engineer to join their Customer Services Edge team, focusing on the network that connects Google's cloud customers to Cloud Networking and GCP offerings. This role involves managing the entire lifecycle of new products and technologies within Google's Global Network edge domain. The position requires extensive experience in network engineering, with responsibilities ranging from conceptualization to deployment and maintenance of network systems.

The ideal candidate will bring 10 years of experience in optical technologies and large-scale network planning. They will be responsible for ensuring the holistic health of the customer-facing edge network, delivering edge components as part of GGN's network planning, and maintaining Service Level Objectives. The role combines technical expertise in networking with strategic planning and implementation.

As part of Google's Technical Infrastructure team, you'll work on the architecture that powers Google's extensive product portfolio. The team takes pride in being the engineers' engineers, focusing on maintaining and developing data centers and next-generation Google platforms. Responsibilities For Staff Network Engineer, Customer Services Edge

  • Drive the quantifiable analysis of measurements, or data and capacity. Forecast models for making networks more scalable, efficient, and deliver predictable user experience
  • Evaluate the current inefficiencies, complexities, flaws in network systems and propose designs, software, and processes to improve them
  • Develop software that improves the performance, safety, transparency, and manageability of network systems
  • Participate in rotating schedules with other team members, including weekends
