Description For Strategic Risk Manager, Ads

Google's Trust and Safety team is seeking a Strategic Risk Manager for their Ads division to help identify and tackle major challenges affecting product safety and integrity. This role is crucial in protecting users and partners from abuse across Google's product ecosystem, including Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. The position requires a strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities and a commitment to user safety.

The role involves working with Google's cross-product abuse and crisis management hub of Trust and Safety, coordinating responses to high-sensitivity escalations, and connecting various aspects of incident intelligence to drive issues to resolution. You'll collaborate with engineering and product teams across time zones, participating in weekend on-call work when necessary.

As a Strategic Risk Manager, you'll be responsible for identifying potential risks, conducting impact assessments, and developing mitigation strategies for high-stakes events. The position requires strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to work with both front-line teams and executives. You'll contribute to maintaining and improving incident response SOPs while ensuring swift and effective crisis management.

The compensation package is competitive, ranging from $132,000 to $194,000 base salary, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. The role offers the opportunity to work from either Austin, TX or Seattle, WA, contributing to Google's mission of earning users' trust and making the internet a safer place.

This position requires someone who can handle graphic, controversial, or upsetting content while maintaining professionalism. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience in risk management or crisis management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence cross-functionally at various levels. A bachelor's degree is required, while a master's degree or PhD is preferred.
