Description For Systems Development Engineer III

Google's Systems Development Engineering (SDE) team is seeking a Systems Development Engineer III to join their Enterprise Fleet Integration and Management (EFIM) team. This role focuses on managing and improving systems that control and monitor services across Google's global properties. As part of the Core team, you'll work on building technical foundations for Google's flagship products, developing central solutions, and making impactful technical decisions.

The position requires expertise in infrastructure automation, system administration, and service management. You'll be responsible for improving efficiency through automation, implementing security controls, and streamlining service management processes. The ideal candidate should have strong experience with Linux systems, configuration management tools, and monitoring solutions.

Responsibilities For Systems Development Engineer III

  • Provide technical expertise to support projects, with the goals of improving efficiency, scalability, and reducing manual effort
  • Leverage coding, scripting, and systems engineering skills to automate system administration tasks and eliminate repetitive work
  • Collaborate with teams to implement and strengthen network and security controls
  • Enhance and automate server ownership metadata to streamline service management
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and propose innovative solutions to simplify service management processes

Requirements For Systems Development Engineer III

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT-related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3 years of experience with technical infrastructure (e.g., deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting)
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible and Puppet
  • Experience in Linux operating systems
  • Experience building and maintaining monitoring tools
