As an Engineering Manager at Grindr, you'll play a key role in building the next generation of the Grindr app. You'll lead a small team of talented engineers, providing thought leadership and expert technical guidance/mentorship. Your responsibilities include:
- Leading with empathy and providing expert technical guidance to passionate engineers
- Determining the needs of diverse user groups and resolving complex business problems
- Collaborating cross-functionally with product and technical teams
- Becoming an expert in feature-driven engineering
- Managing and coaching engineers on best practices and career development
- Shipping multiple production-grade applications
- Maintaining high-impact product software at scale
- Working with cloud technologies and databases
- Developing native mobile applications (iOS/Android)
- Communicating the "big picture" to stakeholders at various levels
- Bridging gaps between competing priorities and fostering collaboration
- Working with geographically dispersed teams
- Improving software quality and operational performance metrics
The ideal candidate has experience in leading engineering teams, a passion for programming, and a track record of shipping production-grade applications. They should be familiar with architecture at scale, cloud technologies, and mobile-first development. Strong communication skills and the ability to work with diverse teams are essential.

Grindr is committed to fair and equitable compensation, with a base pay range of $187,500 - $220,500 USD for this role in Chicago. This is a hybrid position requiring in-office presence on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
