LinkedIn, the world's largest professional network, is seeking a strategic Director for their Site Reliability Engineering team in Bengaluru, India. This is a hybrid role leading a team of 40+ engineers, focusing on ensuring the reliability of LinkedIn's critical infrastructure systems including streaming, batch processing, data lake, and online serving document store ecosystems.

The role requires a seasoned engineering leader with 15+ years of experience who can set strategic vision and technical direction while maintaining hands-on technical expertise. You'll be responsible for scaling systems to meet evolving business needs, advancing tech migration roadmaps, and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Key focus areas include driving API-first approaches for infrastructure lifecycle management, implementing automated remediation systems, and providing deep observability into infrastructure health. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience with cloud platforms, container orchestration, infrastructure as code, and modern DevOps practices.

Responsibilities For Director, Software Engineering, Site Reliability

  • Set the strategic vision, technical direction and develop execution roadmap for the organization
  • Build and maintain a high-performing engineering team of 40+ SREs
  • Drive APIs first approach for operations of infrastructure life cycle management
  • Provide automated remediations to restore desired state using infrastructure as code
  • Provide observability and deep actionable insights into infrastructure health and drift
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and accountability

Requirements For Director, Software Engineering, Site Reliability

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 15+ years in Engineering leadership focused on dev/ops based roles leading teams of engineers of size 40+
  • 8+ years of building software to simplifying operations and reducing toil in managing large scale infrastructure
  • 8+ years experience in Cloud data infrastructure, Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Apache Hadoop infrastructure
  • Proficiency in cloud computing platforms, Linux-based systems, container orchestration, and infrastructure as code
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and monitoring tools
