Description For Software Engineer, Developer Console

Lyft, a leading transportation company, is seeking a Software Engineer for their Developer Console team within the Infrastructure engineering department. This role is crucial in scaling Lyft's infrastructure and creating an exceptional development experience for all engineers at the company.

As a Software Engineer on the Developer Console team, you'll be at the forefront of delivering critical, large-scoped projects used by all software engineers at Lyft. Your primary focus will be on building and simplifying infrastructure management through the Clutch platform and related systems. You'll also play a key role in driving Continuous Deployment and Infrastructure as Code initiatives at Lyft.

Key responsibilities include designing and developing tooling to improve platform reliability, scalability, and efficiency, while maintaining a balance between sustainable, high-impact projects and quick shipping. You'll work with industry-best practices and tools, participate in cross-functional design reviews and planning sessions, and automate repetitive tasks to streamline operations.

The ideal candidate should have 3-4+ years of experience in software development, automation, and systems engineering, with a strong background in languages like Go, Python, Rust, or C/C++. Experience with large-scale infrastructure in cloud environments like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure is essential.

Lyft offers a competitive salary range of $124,000 - $155,000 for this position in the New York City area, along with potential equity offerings and comprehensive benefits. The role follows a hybrid work model, requiring in-office presence three days a week with the flexibility to work remotely for up to 4 weeks per year.

Responsibilities For Software Engineer, Developer Console

  • Design, develop and deploy tooling and systems that continually improve the reliability, scalability and efficiency of our platform
  • Maintain a balance between building sustainable, high-impact projects and shipping things quickly
  • Operate and improve our Infrastructure using industry best practices and tools
  • Participate in design and production readiness reviews, platform management and capacity planning ceremonies with cross-functional teams
  • Document Infrastructure operations process and insights, identify repeatable actions and ruthlessly automate repetitive tasks
  • Participate in our teams on-call rotations, respond to incidents and support other teams mitigate customer impacting events

  • Experience operating large scale infrastructure in public cloud environments, such as AWS, Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure
