Lead Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineering

Mastercard is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer for their Site Reliability Engineering team to ensure customer experiences that consistently deliver. As part of the Availability Zone Operations group, you'll be responsible for maintaining and enhancing core infrastructure, networks and supporting services that our applications depend on.

The role focuses on continuously assessing and improving service quality of hypervisor and container orchestration infrastructure. You'll work closely with product/development teams on resource utilization, deployment resiliency, capacity forecasting and performance optimization.

Key responsibilities include leading assessment processes for VMWare hypervisors & Pivotal Cloud Foundry clusters, identifying configuration inconsistencies, reviewing incidents with Operations teams, evaluating vendor roadmaps, driving observability practices, and developing testing/validation plans.

The ideal candidate brings 5-10 years of platform engineering experience with virtualization and serverless technologies (VMware/CloudFoundry preferred). You should have strong knowledge of operating systems, networking, automation tools (Chef/Ansible/Terraform), and monitoring solutions. Excellence in communication and vendor coordination is essential.
