Description For ASIC Engineer, SoC Architect

Meta is seeking an experienced SoC Architect to join their silicon team within the Infrastructure organization. This role is crucial for designing hardware accelerators that power Meta's global data centers, which serve billions of users across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and other platforms. As an ASIC Engineer and SoC Architect, you'll be at the forefront of developing next-generation Machine Learning ASICs using cutting-edge process technologies.

The position involves sophisticated architectural work, requiring deep expertise in computer architecture, performance analysis, and system design. You'll be responsible for mapping complex data center workloads to heterogeneous ASICs, performing detailed calculations for computation throughput and memory specifications, and making critical decisions about performance, area, and power tradeoffs.

This is an opportunity to work with Meta's infrastructure team, collaborating across multiple disciplines including RTL design, verification, firmware development, and program management. The role requires both technical excellence and leadership skills, as you'll be expected to mentor team members while driving architectural solutions forward.

Responsibilities For ASIC Engineer, SoC Architect

  • Work on modeling, performance analysis and architecture definition of Machine Learning ASICs
  • Map Data Center workloads to heterogeneous ASICs containing multiple processors and hardware accelerators
  • Identify workloads and micro-benchmarks for performance analysis
  • Mentor architecture team members
  • Collaborate with RTL design, verification, firmware/software teams
  • Ensure ASIC meets end-to-end application performance goals

Requirements For ASIC Engineer, SoC Architect

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant technical field
  • Experience with Computer Architecture concepts
  • Programming skills in C or C++
  • 12+ years experience in defining and delivering high performance ASICs
  • Knowledge of hardware/software partitioning
  • Experience with microprocessor architecture and memory systems
