Description For Factory Operations Manager

As a part of China Factory Operations for Oculus, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations with our global manufacturing partners in China. You will be a key member of the Technical Operations team and will partner closely with advanced manufacturing engineering, supplier quality, test engineering, logistics, trade compliance, legal, and our contract manufacturing partners. Your focus will be on launching high-quality products cost-competitively and ensuring product availability in channels at required times. You'll be responsible for on-the-ground operations in our Final Assembly, Test, and Packout Facilities (FATP) and ensure execution as agreed to by several cross-functional teams. Key metrics include partner compliance with launch volumes, costs, quality, reliability, and social responsibility. This role is field personnel and requires frequent travel within Mainland China with some travel to the Asia Pacific region and US.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and layout FATP lines using lean and Six Sigma technology
  • Ensure ultimate quality practices at FATP and for incoming components
  • Drive yield and UPH improvements
  • Reduce costs and cycle times
  • Drive ramp and MP readiness
  • Execute Product Development Process and Phase Gates
  • Develop manufacturing processes and drive line qualifications
  • Implement line balancing and automation
  • Drive FACA and yield bridge to mass production
  • Influence product manufacturability, testability, serviceability, reliability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in Operations engineering activities
  • Detailed understanding of Final Assembly, Test, Pack, and SMT processes
  • Experience driving Contract Manufacturers
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin
  • Experience with process-driven approaches (Six Sigma, 8D, FMEA)
  • Strong data analysis and statistics knowledge
  • Project management experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with manufacturing transfer/setup/qualification
  • Automated system bring-up and qualification experience
  • Data analysis using JMP
  • GD&T & tolerance analysis experience
  • Experience with optical systems and clean room setup

Requirements For Factory Operations Manager

  • 8+ years of experience in Operations engineering activities
  • Demonstrated technical skills and experience, including a detailed understanding of Final Assembly, Test, Pack and SMT processes
  • Solid background driving Contract Manufactures
  • Ability to operate in dynamic, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Fluent written and spoken English and Mandarin
  • Experience in using process driven and analytical approaches to problem-solving (Six Sigma, 8D, FMEA, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of data analysis and statistics
  • Proven project management experience (Planning, Cost, & Delivery)
  • Proven strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to frequent travel within Mainland China with some travel to Asia Pacific region and US
