Network Production Engineer - Backbone

Meta is seeking a Network Production Engineer to join their Backbone team in Dublin, Ireland. This role sits at the intersection of software and network engineering, focusing on maintaining and improving Meta's critical backbone networks that support both traditional traffic and machine-to-machine communication between data centers.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work on some of the largest and most complex networks in the world, particularly as Meta expands its infrastructure to support its AGI initiatives. You'll be responsible for the end-to-end health of Meta's backbone networks, including both the "Classic Backbone" for user traffic and the "Express Backbone" for inter-datacenter communication.

As a Network Production Engineer, you'll develop tools and automation systems to manage network performance and reliability at scale. The role combines software development with network engineering, requiring both coding skills in languages like Python and Go, and deep networking knowledge including protocols like BGP, MPLS, and ISIS.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience with network protocols and hardware, strong coding abilities, and a passion for solving complex technical challenges. You'll work in a dynamic environment where you'll handle both immediate network incidents through on-call rotations and long-term strategic projects to improve network reliability and performance.
